Shi Pratt bio
Shi Pratt is an Oslo based choreographer, dancer and teacher.
She spent the first 12 years of her professional dance career dancing for several world renown dance companies in Israel, as well as in the independent choreographers scene. She had already started choreographing at that time.
Upon moving to Norway in 2010 she focused on choreographing while continuing to dance in her own pieces and freelancing for other projects and companies. She was also commissioned by various dance companies, festivals and universities to create new dances. During this period she has begun developing and teaching her own movement research classes named ToolBox, she also teaches Gaga, GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS®.
Shi is interested in integrating movement, sound, text, and rich visual vocabulary into her work and has explored a creative engagement with other art forms, particularly lights, video and scenography.
Her performance work is assembled with care and exactitude, balancing strong physicality and fearless complexity. The work is marked by sharp visual imagery and a keen sense of curiosity. She continues to focus in on inter-human and social issues while exploring the breadth in which structure can breed freedom and vise versa. Shi has collaborated with celebrated dance artists, dance companies, musicians and filmmakers in Israel, Europe, Scandinavia and the United States.
Since 2008, she has created and performed under the banner of her own company Karlsen Pratt, along with partner Kyrre Heldal Karlsen, in which they produce their original works and showcased their collaborations.

Kyrre Heldal Karlsen
Kyrre Heldal Karlsen create lights, scenography and video work for arts installations, large scale concerts, theatre dance performances and festivals. He has filled the largest cathedral in norway with silhouettes of crows and toured Europe with the art-metal project KILLL, he´s created new stories in the narrative paintings in Oslo City Hall and created spaces for norwegian and foreign dance companies through his lights and scenographies. By using architecture as a starting point for his lighting designs regardless if he´s working in cathedrals, the Oslo City Hall, Berlin nightclubs or a generic black box, he uses lights and other spacial techniques in sensitive interplay with the existing architecture to create new social settings. The audience is invited to go into dialogue with the space in ways that open up to new scenic experiences that literally pushes the audience out of the role of the spectator and into being an active participant in the situation. Over the last year he has cooperated with amongst others the following artists: Montee, Ola Kvernberg, Stian Westerhus, Truls, Susanne Sundfør and Maya Vik. In the performing arts he has done cooperations with the Cullberg Ballet, Inbal Pinto and Avshalom Pollack, Zero Visibility Corp, Vegard Vinge and Ida Müller, and the visual artists Goro Tronsmo, Crispin Gurholt and Jenny Hval.Ten years ago Kyrre was already an established lighting designer manipulating the strobes when Aphex Twin did his legendary first show at Blå and also touring the world with Jaga Jazzist. He laid down the foundations for ecstasy on the dance floors of the Sunkissed monthly club event and he has worked with most prominent performing arts companies in Norway, being a lighting designer that works closely in cooperation with the other artists involved whilst making sure to add his own very individual signature.
